Description
The most common wine bottle around. The Bordeaux bottle (or Claret bottle) hails from the Bordeaux region in France, as the name implies. Known for its broad shoulders and straight figure, this type of bottle comes in a range of shades and can hold a variety of wine types. Dark green and brown are usual picks for reds, to guard them against light during prolonged keeping, while light green and flint are typically reserved for whites that will be drank sooner after bottling.
Claret shaped bottles are commonly used for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Bordeaux, Chianti, Barolo, Rioja, and Malbec.
750ml flint (clear) bottles without a punt.
