15 GALLON SPIKE+ BREW KETTLE Introducing Spike Brewing's new Spike+ line of kettles! Spike+ is just that, an improvement on an already great platform. The Spike+ line draws from the pro side of brewing with the standard use of tri-clamp (TC) fittings. TC fittings do not have any threads and use a gasket and clamp which allows for quick attaching/detaching of fittings. The Spike+ line is for the most serious homebrewers! While designing the setup of the kettle, Spike Brewing offset the ports on these kettles, so you have ample room to use our butterfly valves, or other accessories, with ease. 15 psi Pressure Relief Valve
When pressurizing your Spike Conical you'll always want to use a pressure relief valve (PRV). This will prevent the tank from being over pressurized and causing a potential failure to occur. This Spike Brewing PRV was developed with their OEM specifically to work with their CF series Conical. It will keep your tank below the 15psi max working pressure rating. A very good cask conditioned ale strain, this extremely flocculant yeast produces distinctly malty beers. Attenuation levels are typically less than most other yeast strains which results in a slightly sweeter finish. 2" TC Butterfly Valve
Spike Brewing conicals come equipped with this 100% sanitary 2” TC butterfly valve. This valve has a squeeze locking/trigger handle that allows for 180 degrees of motion and 13 locking positions.The butterfly valve is the preferred valve for the cold side of brewing instead of ball valves. These butterfly valves have no pockets or crevices for bacteria to hide in. Ball valves can trap liquid between the seals in the internal ball when opening and closing the valve.The handle is a special 'shorty' style which keeps a compact design. 2" TC Sight Glass
The Spike Brewing engineers have totally redesigned the 2" TC sight glass from the ground up! Standard sight glasses use 4 long bolts that need to be tightened in a criss-cross pattern to get even pressure to avoid leaks. Their new design is made up of only 5 parts compared to 26 parts in a standard sight glass. No tools are required to assemble or disassemble; simply twist the knurled end cap off. The glass is also protected by the stainless guard which protects the glass from even the clumsiest brewer. The sight glass allows for direct attachment to the bottom port of our conicals. The sight glass allows for monitoring flow, color and clarity. A sight glass is also helpful when collecting yeast. 2" TC x 5/8" OD Barb
Not all hose barbs are created equal! The Spike Brewing special 2" TC x barb fitting features a shorter profile and over sized diameter barb. The over sized barb (5/8" OD) is specially designed for 1/2" Silicone tubing. The larger size does two things: It stretches the tubing over the barb creating a tight fit requiring no hose clamps. The inside diameter of our barb is 1/2" compared to standard 1/2" barbs which have a smaller 3/8" size. This creates a full port design and will not restrict flow going through the barb.
