Out of all the ways to attach silicone tubing to your brew kettle or conical, quick connect ball lock fittings are a great option. The ease of connecting/disconnecting and cleaning is unmatched by standard hose barbs or cam locks. These fittings can easily be attached using one hand even with heavy brewing gloves. Spike Brewing's thermowell features a 1/4" temp probe opening on the outside which is mounted to a 1.5" TC fitting. This allows it to attach directly to the sanitary TC fitting on the conical. It also allows for an optional digital temp sensor to be attached. The probe is completely sealed from the outside.
