Cluster has a long history in the United States, dating back to the late 1970s when it was the most widely grown hop variety in the country. While its origins are unclear, there have been theories that it is a result of crossbreeding between imported and native hops.
Cluster is an excellent dual purpose hop and is often used in the reproduction of historical beer styles.
