Speed up heating times with the Heat Exchanger Dish (HED) for Gen 4 BrewZillas. Due to the concave bottom and central draining hole, the wort being recirculated through the pump will pass through the malt pipe and then down through the boiler false bottom. The wort would normally then follow the path of least resistance, making a b-line for that drainage hole. What this Heat Exchanger Dish does is force that recirculating wort up to the edge of the BrewZilla base and pass over the elements for a longer period, this then aids in faster heating exchange with the wort, which can help you on a brew day reach those temperatures much quicker. Unfortunately some of us will have to heat our conicals during the long Winter months. No fear, Spike Brewing has the solution! Each conical has its own sized heater and the wattage of each is carefully designed to match it. They also use a built in thermostat which stops the heater from getting too warm. This means you get a gentle warming action when your beer drops below your desired temp (opposed to rapid heating which can overshoot or 'cook' your beer).
